Tromelin Island QRV - Incredible Pile-up for FT4TA

The last hamradio activation from Tromelin island was in 2000- more than 14 years ago. Many DXers, almost everyone of the younger generation, are looking for one QSO with this absolutely rare DX entity. In November 2014 a team of french operators is QRV for 10 days, bringing this DX country on the air as FT4TA. Right from the beginning of their operation, the pile-up of calling people for FT4TA was incredible. I have never heard a simliar pile-up in the last years. The split range for QSX was more than 25kHz up of their CQ frequency. Incredible.... Thousands of callers where looking for at least one QSO.

I am one of those lucky guys: QSO on 12m SSB and 10m CW - already confirmed at Logbook-of-the-world ! Thank you guys! What a DX ... and an All-Time-New-One for me!

EA8/DL3FCG is calling CQ ...

I will be QRV again this year from Tenerife AF-004 on the Canary Islands. Starting at July 7th I
will be there on a holliday style operation for 3 weeks (July 27th). In the morning hours (8:00 UTC +/-) I will be looking for openings specially to JA and Asia on the higher bands 10m/12m. During last years operations from La Orotava (northern part of Tenerife) I managed to work even weak and QRP stations from JA on 10m/CW.
Although I am using only a modest station setup (FT857/100Watts) with G5RV antenna, it will be easy to work into EU an NA with good signals.

An entry into the IARU HF Championsship contest is planned as single operator/Low Power CW.
QSL is available via eQSL, LOTW and buro to my homecall.

Hope to work you as EA8/DL3FCG this year !

Challenge #1000

It was XT2TT from Burkina Faso ! The QSO dated March 5th 2013 on 12m CW set the magic counter for my DXCC Challenge award to #1000.

Since my first DX QSO in 1990 I uploaded 13.000 QSOs to the LotW database and I got approximately 4.500 QSL-matches in the database to reach this fantastic award.

WAE TOP is top !

Applied for the WAE TOP award from the DARC e.V. and got the award plaque in the mail after only a few weeks of turnaround time. After yeras of collecting points for this award, the German DCL ("Deutsche Contest Log"), a database platform for QSO confirmations, very much comparable to LotW and eQSL, is offering a smooth way to get the many many points and confirmations from all the European countries well sorted. The WAE-Top plaque requires 70 WAE countries and 300 bandpoints. And this is, what it looks like ...

By the way: the DCL platform is open for usage for hams all over the world, not only for members of DARC. If you want to get rid of sending 300 QSL cards to an award check point: go with the DCL !
